Experience historic Ketchikan and the surrounding islands from the unique perspective of a sea kayak. This journey begins at the dock in the heart of Ketchikan, where you get outfitted for sea kayaking and friendly guides give a lesson in kayaking basics. When the tide allows, you will kayak right into the historic Creek Street district, where the houses on stilts have changed little since the roaring twenties. You will paddle through Thomas Basin, the town’s first boat harbor, and out into the Tongass Narrows where you will catch a glimpse of life in an Alaskan fishing town: float planes fly overhead and fishing boats head out to sea. Once across, the island exploration begins! Guides lead paddlers along the shores of Pennock and Gravina Islands where you seek out colorful inter-tidal life and watch for the majestic bald eagles that nest in the old growth trees. Return to the dock rejuvenated and with enough time to explore the town of Ketchikan on foot.
This is the perfect nature adventure under a full moon! If your stay in Puerto Rico happens to fall during the full moon stage, you don't have to miss out on our evening Kayaking tours. This tour replaces the Bio-Bay Kayak Adventure during the full moon cycle as the reflection of the moonlight on the surface of the lagoon makes it difficult to see the bioluminescent organisms. But, that same moonlight exposes mangrove forests, eight ecosystems, bird life, the second oldest lighthouse in Puerto Rico, iguanas and much more of nature's secrets that are normally overlooked on the darker nights.
Kayak to the Magnificent La Jolla Sea Caves! Experience amazing views and abundant wildlife while kayaking. This is a guided, 2-hour kayak tour to the gorgeous La Jolla Sea Caves and through the fascinating marine paradise of the La Jolla Ecological Reserve. Seals are often seen, as well as sea lions and dolphins.
Don't let your day end when the sun goes down. We offer relaxing kayak tours at sunset that lead to the fascinating Laguna Grande in the town of Fajardo. Under a blanket of the night sky and the historical lighthouse of Fajardo, you can touch the waters that glow with Bioluminescence Organisms. The activity will start at sunset in the small fishing village of Las Croabas. Tour includes kayaks, lifejackets, refreshments and two to three guides, depending on group size.
